Crown & Bridge

A crown is a tooth-shaped cap that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size.  A crown is used to hold weak, broken or cracked teeth together to avoid further fracturing. A crown protects and strengthens tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.

A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) appliance that is used to replace one or more missing teeth. The false tooth (pontic) is centered between two attached crowns, to create a fixed bridge.  The fixed bridge is permanently cemented to the two teeth on either side of the tooth gap.

Crowns and bridges can be made from porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or a full gold. The most esthetic crowns are the full porcelain crowns which can be made to match to the shade of your other teeth, allowing it to blend in and appear just like one of your natural teeth.
